I need your help. I am the Editor-in-Chief of the Monroe Doctrine newspaper at Monroe Community College in Rochester, NY.
On September 9, our student-run newspaper and radio station were unfairly shut down indefinitely. This is a violation of the 1st Amendment Rights of all the students here. Additionally, they are violating the Due Process awarded to us by the 14th Amendment and SUNY and MCC Due Process policy.
No notice was made to the students, even though it is required in the SGA By-Law. The SGA is falsifying the meeting minutes now to make it appear there is no student outrage. They are even destroying the recordings, which they are required to keep for 5 years by law. Now they are not even letting all the students speak at the SGA meetings to voice their concerns after taking away all student media outlets.
This is a public college, which means that your taxes are used to help fund it. Please help us by emailing the MCC President's office, the Monroe County Executive's office, Senator Jeremy Cooney's office, NY Governor Kathy Hochul and the SGA President and let them know you are concerned about them shutting down student media at a public school.
The SGA will tell you that this is just a temporary suspension; however, there is no end date. Instead, they are claiming SGA will form a committee to "reimagine media" at MCC, which is a 1st amendment right violation. They will claim there is no interest in these organizations, which is not true. Both would currently have full staffs if they were allowed to operate.
Our complaints as students to the administration have fallen on deaf ears. Our best chance to get the organizations back up and running this semester is public outcry.

Are you able to get in touch with Tulsi Gabbard? I know that you both used to be friendly but then she began to drift apart from her principles and character; now there's a possibility that she'll acknowledge some of her flaws back then and understand the legitimate criticisms you voiced about her and I think that she may be a great contact in order to try do dig deeper into Charlie Kirk's assassination. As head of the DNI she should be able to give you security footage from the event that the FBI seems to be withholding which is crazy considering that the only reason Tyler Robinson is in custody right now is because his parents "supposedly identified him" from the pictures they have released.
